The preliminary pencils.

Putting down the first lines in ink. Generally, I'll start with a 02 micron or a 005 micron.

The first layer of preliminary inking is put down here. Just fleshing out the form with line work. I'm keeping shading in the back of my mind, but concentrating mostly on form: how the lines wrap around the subject.

The background is done with a light grey Zig Clean Color brush. It is essentially a watercolor brush pen. I regularly use these in my drawings.

This final image shows the erasure of the first layer of ink and the beginning of the second layer.

All of my drawings utilize this technique of drawing a layer, erasing it and drawing another layer. The next post will be a video showing the erasure and completion of this drawing.
